• Even if they are related to you, it’s good to ask questions

> Visit their home or center, do they:

• Do things with the children?
• Have age appropriate toys?
• Talk to and read to the children?
• Praise the children?
• Know how to encourage appropriate behavior?
• Provide a safe environment?

> Check at least two references:

• Contact parents who have or are currently using their services.

> Make a decision:

• Trust your instincts
• Ask more questions if needed

> Follow up

• Is your child happy?
• Ask questions if you have concerns.
• It’s OK to make a change if you feel it’s needed
